Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Caz, I think you have the answer.  One of the problems of having a Saab dealership at the end of the road is that you see some very desirable cars (not all Saab).  Very silly in practice but your brains move to your right foot.  I did in fact buy a car from them a few years ago.  I asked for a test drive.  I don’t think they expected me to head down the M40 in the direction of Oxford at breakneck speed! The car I saw is 14 years old so near to falling apart and has an auto gear box.  An automatic gear box in a sports car?  Where is the fun in that? Simon Replying to my own post, here is a link. http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/dealerservices_photoad.asp?did=1… I have not quite given up on the idea.  114,000km is a very low milage, or even kilometres?  Can even a bad driver trash in auto in 114,000km?  It has not been modified, most seem to have been. Now I am thinking that an unusual car would attract the attention of the police. Cute that the photos were taken outside the local church :-) Simon who can never make up his mind.

WOW!! I can see why you’re tempted Simon. I can just see me now in that passenger seat <G Caz — The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm

Hey Simon. Sell the jock straps on eBay, and use the money to buy your dream car! Ian — I’m sick of following my dreams. I’m just gonna ask where they’re goin’, and hook up with ‘em later. (Mitch Hedberg) http://sundry.ws/ — The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm

Hello friends, Manchester United soccer club have sent me a wash bag full of smelly stuff.  I do not recall asking for it.  I have never even been to Manchester!  It is not my club.

Desperation from Man U. They can’t even give them away to their own supporters. As you may have guessed, I’m not a Man U supporter <G As an aside I have to resist temptation.  I have seen a red two seater open top sports car.  I can afford to buy it.  I have an insurance quote which is not *so* far out of this world.  26 of 29 insurance companies would not even quote for insurance and the remaining 3 wanted to speak to me.  Maintaining it would probably see me financially crippled!  The car is from Japan and was never sold in the UK. Simon, dreaming.

I have the answer to your problem Simon..Just take the car for a test drive. You will have to take it for a loooong drive of course (via my neck of the woods.) We’ll just go for a spin and then you take it back to whence it came :-) )) Caz — The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm

That is a great looking car in the photos. 114K isn’t much at all for mileage. If thinking seriously about purchasing this vehicle have a complete mechanical evaluation done on it by an independent shop that you trust. Looks like covers on books can be very deceiving. Good luck in coming to a decision. — Ron P The trouble with sitting on the fence is getting pickets up the butt — The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm

Good luck in coming to a decision. Ron, A little research has made my mind up.  It is a very nice looking car and most of the mechanical bits are from a Honda Civic of that era.  Not so bad but it is a personal import which makes the insurance costs high.  At fourteen years I suspect some cosmetic coverup of rust or worse.  A newer official Honda import can be had for less money with electric roof and a manual gearbox so it is no deal. A manual gearbox would suggest a sports car has been thrashed but then that is why I want it :-) If it is still there in a week or two I may try to negotiate a much better price.  I would be looking for 25% off the sticker price. And yes an independent mechanical inspection is essential.  I would only buy an unmodified model.  Insurance costs soar if it has been modified.

A friend of mine has an old Civic with over 350,000 miles on it.  I’m not sure of the year. — Tony Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted. Albert Einstein — The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm
