That is a great looking car in the photos. 114K isn’t much at all for mileage. If thinking seriously about purchasing this vehicle have a complete mechanical evaluation done on it by an independent shop that you trust. Looks like covers on books can be very deceiving. Good luck in coming to a decision. Ron, A little research has made my mind up. It is a very nice looking car and most of the mechanical bits are from a Honda Civic of that era. Not so bad but it is a personal import which makes the insurance costs high. At fourteen years I suspect some cosmetic coverup of rust or worse. A newer official Honda import can be had for less money with electric roof and a manual gearbox so it is no deal. A manual gearbox would suggest a sports car has been thrashed but then that is why I want it If it is still there in a week or two I may try to negotiate a much better price. I would be looking for 25% off the sticker price. And yes an independent mechanical inspection is essential. I would only buy an unmodified model. Insurance costs soar if it has been modified.

You may wonder why I turned on m (gravity) and called him shallow and superficial (or there again you may not!) but this was due to the denial of what is called a *universal truth* or *universal law*. No one has the *right* to have kicks. But the vulnerable, weak and helpless have a *right* to be protected. If there is a substance (say a drug) which gives a certain percentage of the population a high, or kicks BUT at the same time, a few people are driven to insanity and torment by this substance – then the Universal Law states that it is those who are driven to insanity that must be protected and they do not side with the majority’s *right* to have kicks. By stating that he considered his right to have kicks was stronger than the Law of protecting the vulnerable, m (gravity) proved to us that he was shallow and superficial and does not know the basics.

When the Motorcycle Helmet Laws were first appearing the argument went that the number of vegatables living on state provided room,board, and medical support justified making helmets mandatory. Of course if I just prefer not wearing a helmet, thats too bad. I have to be socially responsible and not become a vegatable. This may seem like the end of the story but its not. These days they add up the lost work time due to colds, skating mishaps, boating mshaps and etc. Then, for example, they try to pass laws mandating elbow, knee, and head protection must be worn if you put on a pair of skates. This is because of "school days lost" due to kids whacking their elbow in a fall. "Lost school days" due to skating accidents? So now protective gear is mandated for all? They won’t allow you to put glass in a screen door. It has to be plexiglass. Thats because if the door should slam the glass will break. All restaurants, under state law, must have these pastic tubes fit over their flourescent lights. Why? Because if the bulb should break the glass will fall into the food. Anybody follow this? If a glass thing breaks and falls into the food the restraunteur will feed it to people anyway? I agree that there are dangerous things and there is a need to regulate dangerous things. But………..the body politic can be really wierd at times. I support the motorcycle helmet laws. I’m sure that jock straps are useful for all school sports, I guess, but I would be curious to see the study that mandated jock straps for school atheletics. I was in sixth grade when I had to wear a jock strap for playing basketball in a little kids league. At first I thought it was some kind of protective hat…….

Day 5 after V

I wore a jock for 7 weeks. Even sometimes in the evening laying on the couch I needed it. I wouldn’t have been able to work without it, or at least with any sort of comfort. Odd thing — I didn’t get better gradually, as one would expect. For 7 long weeks I thought "this is it for the rest of my life." Then within a matter of 2 or 3 days, I felt much better and haven’t used the strap since. (that was around Christmas time.) As for the lump, the sheet my doc gave me mentioned something about that, and to not be concerned initially. As I recall, it is more or less normal, although I never had it.

Day 14 for me and starting to get concerned. How long do you think you should wait before going back to the doctor to have excessive pain checked out? I don’t want to be a wimp but I’m starting to think things aren’t quite right here. My balls still ache all the time. Sometimes better, sometimes worse but always there. Like a never ending dull pain that increases and decreases in waves. I also have a lump that has formed at the base of my shaft of the left side. It is pretty big (like Oliver jellybean size) and extremely painful to the touch. I have read many of the posts in here and have no idea if this could be epidydimus, sperm granuloma, or a hematoma of some kind but it is very round and not near my balls at all. Was just about ready to call the doctor but thought I would check this site out first for answers. Of course I am sitting here thinking the worst, that I will be the 1 in 200 that ends up with PVP. OIiver, it has been 10 days since your last post, have things improved for you. Your experence sounds the most similar to my own. From what I gather it is not unusual for the pain to last a long time.

Hey Rick, I think you should call the doctor. The lump sounds to me like a sperm granuloma, but hey, what do I know? In the meantime, you might try ibuprofin or other anti-imflammatories. Do hotbaths work? And I wonder if you are still wearing a jockstrap. These are suggestions for dealing with the pain now. But my main advice is to call him up. My doctor scheduled me for a routine look-see one week after. Then used each of the 2 semen check appointments to have another look and to ask how I was doing. So I don’t think it’s that unusual for patients to need some follow up. Besides, you are in pain! Give him a call! Can walk without pain, only get a sharp aching type of pain (like i’ve been kicked) when i move in certain ways. Hard jelly bean thing on my right testicle (at the site of the incisision) is still there. Not getting any bigger though. It almost feels like i can feel the tube because there is another hard lump (much smaller) just below it. Anyway, thanks for all the advice etc !!

Hey guys, Rick here again and thanks for your advice. A hyperlink to this site should be included in the documents you get from the doctor when considering a vasectomy. The information and experiences presented here are invaluable. I purchased a jock strap before my procedure, as requested, but didn’t use it. My urologist, told me it was just to hold the dressing in place over the incision so they didn’t have to use tape. For the last two weeks I tried loose fitting and tight underwear but found that the tight underwear actually caused more pain then the loose ones so I didn’t even think about using the jock till I can here and learned from your experiences. Started wearing the jock on Monday and have only taken it off to wash it. BOY THIS FEELS MUCH MUCH BETTER. There is still pain but very much reduced with the jock. I had decided to wait a couple of days to see if maybe my lump might get better with the improved support of the jock. Well, it hasn’t, it didn’t get any bigger but it didn’t get smaller either and it is still very painful when touched. I will go back to the urologist and see what he thinks and then I will let you guys know what he says.

Rick: I would not hesitate to call your doc. I had a blowout 6 days post-V, it felt like getting kicked in the left nut. I had more or less constant, varying levels of pain/ache/discomfort for 7 (LONG) weeks, and I thought I would also be one of the unfortunate ones. Thanksgiving week (3 weeks post-V) I had 2-3 days where I felt pretty normal, then the ache/discomfort came back again. That was VERY depressing. Then in the 7th week, within a day or two, I felt nearly normal, and have felt 100% since then which was 4 weeks ago. I think I’m over the hump, although I was told that I could have another blowout anytime. I never had the lump that you describe, although as I mentioned earlier, I don’t think it is unusual.

Vas on Tuesday, on the couch all day on Wednesday, back at work on Thursday. Reversal on Thursday, off on Friday, in bed all weekend, back at work (too soon) on Monday….

I went house hunting with a realtor exactly one week after my vas. This entailed driving around and exploring about 15 houses/day for several days. Over those few days I took many steps gingerly but managed to survive. I’m guessing the 2-3 day rest period would suffice for most people but I’d prefer at least 3-5 days before any mandatory work. Using a jock strap for the first couple of weeks makes a huge difference.

I had mine done on the Thursday, and was back to work on the Monday. My job at the time involved a fair amount of driving, and movement in between. It just depends on what he does at his job, and how it goes on the day. There isn’t a right or wrong way to approach this, and I do know that not all bosses/jobs are particularly accomodating. But it might be an idea to let the boss know that he is having it done, and say he intends to be back on the Monday. But pre-warn him that it may be necessary to take more time off so that the boss can plan accordingly. David www.vasectomy-information.com

I think David gave a great suggestion. I had mine a few weeks ago and it was 5 days before I could stay on my feet for long periods of time without major discomfort. A couple of more days before I would even think about doing any type of manual labor for work. If he’s just on his feet lke in sales or something, then that’s one thing. In that case he could probably suck it up and be back to work on Monday no problem. But if he’s doing any lifting/labor etc then I surely wouldn’t want to be him that Monday : ) Really though from the people I’ve spoken with, I was in the minority in terms of recovery – most guys it seems are back to work right away.

This question finally caused me to look at a calendar. I thought I had the op on a Friday. In fact, it was a Thursday. I took the next day off, then had 2 more to recover before going back to work. My job is mostly at a desk, with occasional trips up and down stairs for various meetings. The stairs were a challenge the first few days back (although a jockstrap helped). I’d say if he has to do any serious body work he should leave himself the option of taking the Monday off, as David says. (And he should certainly ice down right after the op and wear a jockstrap: this will keep down swelling and make for a quicker recovery. Karen, Like your husband’s job, mine can require long hours on my feet. Luckily, I was able to stay at a desk most of the time immediately after my procedure, and I could sit down whenever I became uncomfortable. I could feel irritation developing after walking too much the week after the operation. Even moderately strenuous lifting and exertion was out of the question. Occasionally, it caused intense pain. If your husband doesn’t have the latitude to get off of his feet as needed, I’d recommend at least a week off. Regards, Ferdinand

Oh…long story… short story is I drew the PVP lottery, much to my uninformed amazement and chagrin. Reversal was after 2.5 years of chronic testicular pain. See my story at www.vasectomy-information.com in the reversal section, Steve and Lisa….

Back in early America streets were coble stone and people rode the bikes with the really big front wheels. They were called bicycle jockies. The coble stones hurt their testicles so the "Bike Company" produced a "jockey strap" for bicycle Jockies. Later it was shotened to Jock Strap. Then just jock. Just remember when you go to buy one, the size is the size of your scrotum, not your waist. I’ve worn the Futuro (no leg straps) and the Bauer & Black (leg straps). Both are comfortable for me. I’ve heard that the Futuro doesn’t work too well for someone who is light in the ball department. A scrotum (with testicles) needs to hang to hold the Futuro in place. The same problem does not apply to a suspensory with leg straps. — JockstrapX I like jockstraps, the men who wear them, and what men keep in them.

I read with interest the posts regarding wearing a jock everyday and can identify with the guy who grew up on a farm. He started wearing a jock everyday when he was in Junior High School. My Dad gave me several jocks when I started to play baseball. As I got older, in H.S. I found a jock was a lot more comfortable than briefs and certainy boxers. I started to wear a jock almost every day and eventually all day every day. It is just a matter of comfort for me, I worked construction in the summers and really appreciated the support. I know one or two guys who wear a jock every day and they have no problem changing in the lockeroom and putting on a clean jock after practice or a game. Most guys however seem to prefer boxers although a few wear briefs under their boxers. I never figured that one out. I don’t know why more guys don’t wear jocks for daily underware, One you get used to them you won’t go without without your jock. I like the Bike black jock best and a Bike cup for baseball. Zack
